Bookkeeper

We are currently looking to hire a new bookkeeper to join our team.  The position can be either full-time or part time, with a minimum of 30 hours per week.  Experience is not required, provided you do well on our math test, have excellent references, and excellent grades (if applicable).   We give all bookkeeper applicants a 15 minute math test on addition, multiplication and  long division.   No calculators allowed.  (Please feel free to practice before you come!)  The test is designed to tell us who has a good math aptitude and who is able to work quickly and accurately.   We have used it since we opened in 1995 and have been very happy with it.  Starting pay is based on experience, from $10-$13 per hour plus a guranteed monthly bonus.

Bookkeeper tasks include reconciling bank accounts, generating financial statements, processing payroll, paying bills, answering phones, scanning documents and other administrative tasks in support of our office as well as our small business clients.  You will have a lot of contact with clients so excellent people skills are essential.  If you are interested in applying for this position, please call us and set up a time to take the math test.  Also, please see the "Additional Info" section below.

Additional Info

The Hiring Process:  The first step is to come in and take the math test. (Please call for an appointment.)  If you do well on that, we will call you back to come in for an interview.  If the interview goes well, we will check your references and initiate a criminal background check and a credit check.  All positions require a 2-year commitment because a great deal of training is involved.  We are an equal opportunity employer.

Benefits:  Currently we offer a 401-K plan which allows employees to put up to $16,500 away tax deferred.  The Harding Group matches employee contributions, dollar for dollar, up to 5% of gross wages, with immediate vesting.   A $300 health insurance allowance is available after 6 months of service.

Dress Code:  This is a friendly, casual office.  No suits or ties required.  (No t-shirts or jeans allowed.)

Dogs:  We do have a dog in the office some days- sometimes even more than one dog.  If you don't like dogs or are allergic, this may not be the job for you.

Hours:  We are open from 8:30 - 4:30 Monday through Friday.  We are committed to a healthy work/life balance and very rarely do employees work overtime, even during tax season.

Employment Contract:  All positions require an employment contract which states, (1) that employees may not solicit or provide services to any client of The Harding Group within 24 months after leaving and (2) that confidentiality will be maintained at all times.
