An Update on the Harding Group Operations

harding group updates may 2020

The Harding Group wants to keep our clients updated on our business operations and useful small business programs.

As the months move along, restrictions change, and the tax deadline barrels forward, the Harding Group remains hard at work for our clients. Read on for more information on how you can contact us at the Harding Group as well as updated information on tax deadlines, stimulus payments, and more.

How to Contact the Harding Group

Harding Group employees are still working from home as our office is closed. However, we have opened up the vestibule for limited drop-offs, or pick-up between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. We are restarting mail delivery to the vestibule, and we have an administrative person stopping by once a week to go through the mail and drop-offs.

However, we would rather do everything electronically, so we strongly encourage you to use your portal if the info is sensitive, or regular email if the information is not sensitive.

Taxes

2019 taxes are currently due July 15th, but we have extended all of our returns. This means that the balance due, if any, is due by July 15th, but we have until September 15th to file S-Corp and partnership returns, and until October 15th to file personal and C-Corp returns. The 1st and 2nd quarter estimated tax payments are due on July 15th.

Stimulus Payments

These payments are the $1200 per person payment and $500 per kid payment from the federal government. If you haven’t received your stimulus payment yet, it may be because the income on your last tax return was too high, or your previous tax return didn’t include your bank info because you were not receiving a refund. The IRS tool where you could add your bank info has been turned off, and the IRS will now be mailing debit cards to individuals if they do not have their bank info on file. You can check the status of your payment here, and check here for IRS questions answered.

Lacking Medical Insurance?

Any uninsured Marylanders can enroll in a new health plan through June 15th through Maryland Health Connection!

Information for Employers

Employers can refer to our earlier newsletter for a detailed run-down of the many stimulus options available. Some of these options are not available to employers that have already received PPP loans

Information for Harding Group Payroll Clients

The federal government will reimburse you for some or all of your costs associated with paying someone who is:

  • Sick or quarantined
  • Caring for someone sick or quarantined
  • Caring for a child due to school or childcare closures

However, you need to let us know so that we can process the payroll correctly. Wages and other costs reimbursed through the Families First program cannot be used for PPP loan forgiveness.
